How We Do Business
As sixth graders, the students are considered the leaders of the school. I expect my students to act accordingly and set the example for the younger students. This includes following ALL school rules and expectations, such as being respectful, being responsible, being safe, and following the dress code.
One of my core beliefs as an educator is that all students have the potential and ability to learn and succeed. As a result, I maintain incredibly high expectations for my students and continuously push them to reach their full potential. There will be no coasting and no excuses in this class. All my students must invest in their own success and maintain 100% effort throughout the year.
In order for the students to be considered "grade level" or having mastered a particular skill/standard, they must
achieve an 80% or higher on assignments and assessments. The grade-book is weighted as follows: 50% formative assessments, 30% summative assessments, and 20% classwork/homework. It is weighted in this way for each of the following subject areas: math and science. My grade-book is updated at least once per week. The most current information regarding grades is included weekly on the parent communication log. In addition, you are welcome to use the Synergy link (located on the resources page) to view the student's individual grade-book.
Homework is assigned on a daily basis, except Friday. The purpose of homework is to provide the students with additional practice opportunities, aid in solidifying a specific skill, and teaching responsibility. In addition, the students will be required to complete any unfinished classwork as homework. Daily homework assignments can be found on the home page.
